So you got 3.9e-7 as the answer to this math problem in your calculator, but you can't just put that down, your teacher will know you aren't the intellectual you claim you are! So what the absolute fuck does "3.9e-7" mean and how do you get it into standard form? 3.9e-7 is the same as saying 3.9*10^-7, but since that's probably what half the other online resources say, I'll actually show you how the fuck to do this:
IF 'e-' == True:
3.9e-7
The -7 tells you how many zeros you will have, Since it is a **negative** we know it's a decimal, so for e-7 your decimal looks like 0.0000000.
The 3 is your "last zero", it replaces the last zero. The 9, and any numbers following the decimal, and before the e follows "the last zero".
So since the zero count is 7, and our last zero is 3, we get 0.0000003 <-- Notice the last zero got substituted with a 3.
Now we add the trailing numbers, which turn out to only be 9: 0.00000039 <-- This is our final answer.
IF 'e+' == True:
3.9e+7
The +7 tells you how many zeros you have, since it is a **positive** we know it's not a decimal, so for e+7 we get 10000000.
So now that we got 10,000,000, we multiply it by the number before 'e+', so 3.9*10,000,000 = 39,000,000
